EMILIO SANCHEZ TENNIS ACADEMY HOSTS ONE-ON-ONE DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

Coach Ed Krass hosted a 2.5 hour One-On-One Doubles Tournament at the Emilio Sanchez Tennis Academy in Naples. 20 of the Academy’s top junior players competed in the tournament’s round robin format. All matches were Fast Four, no-ad sets, with a 12 point tiebreaker played at 3-3. With players rated from a 6.7 to 11.2 UTR, the matches were intense.

The tournament players were treated to some old school Rock N Roll as they competed in this crosscourt, serve-and-volley Singles competition.

The eventual champion was MICHAEL GURGENIDZE, ranked #51 in Florida with a 9.4 UTR. Michael defeated a few players with a 10 & 11 UTR to capture the One-On-One Doubles Title. Michael hails from Marco Island, Fl. He is a High School senior still looking for a college home. ” With a 1560 SAT and a big  One-On-One Doubles game, Michael will be a great fit at many of our nation’s top academic schools” stated Coach Krass. Krass went on to say” Emilio Sanchez does a first class instructional job at his Academy and it showed today with so many good all-court Boys and Girls playing well today”.
