CITADEL’S SHOEMAKE CAPTURES CHARLESTON TITLE
HAYDEN SHOEMAKE defeated IAN RASHEED 6-4 in the One-On-One Doubles Championship held at the LTP Mount Pleasant Tennis Center in Mount Pleasant, S.C..
Shoemake, who stars at THE CITADEL, was red hot in his semifinal win over RYLER DEHEART in a very close 6-4 set. Deheart, who reached the second round of the U.S. Open in 2008, defeated
CRISTIAN PONS, of Charleston, 6-1 to win the tournament’s 3rd place prize.
Five of Augusta State’s players competed in the 17 player round robin event. KATARINA JOKIC, who was ranked as high as #1 in the ITA College rankings in 2021 and who starred at the University of Georgia, placed second in her round robin pool play. The nationally ranked 5 star and Blue Chip juniors, from the highly acclaimed
Randy Pate Tennis Academy, who competed were : LIZA TANKIMOVICH, CARTER PATE, WHITLEY PATE, PEYTON CAPUANO and finalist IAN RASHEED.

It sure was great to see the legendary COACH CHUCK KRIESE, whose Citadel players brought major heat to the event.
